In light of last President’s election and given this administration’s policies, Prof. Hinojosa will address a series of questions related to America’s fear of the “dangerous” Other, asking if the country ceased to be great because of illegal immigrants overrunning the borders and because of unfair international trade agreements like NAFTA and TPP which produce trade deficits and hurt working Americans. Political economist and anthropologist, he will also invite us to contemplate the ethical responsibilities of countries at the receiving end of immigration to show altruism towards the Other.
