If you never took French before, you can register for our first learning level called Beginner 1. We offer many options for this class depending on your availability.
If you already know or speak some French, we recommend you to take a short online placement test.
We will then contact you in order to find the best class for you, depending on your needs and your availability.
Upon receiving the result, you can register in the corresponding course/level here.
You can purchase a membership at any time. As a member, you have the opportunity to participate in all of the activities organized by the Alliance Française and you have access to many benefits such as a discount on class.

Since your membership provides a service (discounts and perks), it is not considered a gift and therefore is not tax deductible.
Due to the pandemic, our library is closed until further notice but as a member you have the benefit of free access to our Frecnh e-library Culturethèque.
In addition to our classes, many of the events sponsored by the Alliance Française de Los Angeles help you practice your French and meet people with similar interests. Thé ou Café Conversation groups are a great way to practice French in a casual, relaxing environment. You can learn more about them by clicking here.

All of the Alliance Française network’s language courses are structured according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The CEFR is the language and fluency level scale used in the European Union. It serves as the guideline for describing the level of fluency achieved by a foreign language learner.
The Alliance Française of Los Angeles offers multiple courses within each CEFR level.
Our French regular classes are 3 hours long for 8 weeks. Our curriculum is based on the textbooks Alter Ego. The Alter Ego books can be purchased by emailing us at admin@ AfdeLA.org
We also offer Conversation and Thematic classes, that are 1 hour and 3 minutes for 8 weeks.
If you need more flexibility, we also offer different and customized private classes packages.
YES! Your textbook will be shipped for free. We prioritize shipping by course start date. If you are purchasing your textbook only a few days before the start of your class, we will send you the scans of the material /pages you need for your first class.
The assigned teacher will send you a course confirmation, before the start the start of the class to your email with the Zoom link to your virtual class!
We are sorry if the course you want if no longer available. Since moving online this, we have established that a 6-student limit is ideal for best teaching and learning practices for our virtual class setting. We will add you to the waitlist for the class if you send us a quick email at [email protected]. Sometimes, a student drops out before the start of the class.
Yes! We offer kids and teens group and private classes for ages 4-17 and for both non-native and bilingual children on Saturdays. For more information click here.
Yes! We offer TCF certifications as ANF-Canada-TP-Québec.
