The originality of the Alliance Française is personalized teaching based on a constructive dialogue with the teacher and integrating the cultural dimension in language learning. Our curriculum is designed to develop or enhance the spoken and written French. The curriculum follows the guidelines of the globally recognized FRAMES program defining the different levels of language learning. Regular French is comprised of 24 hours of instruction, taught over 8 weeks that allows learners to approach the language contextually through varying practical solutions. These courses can be combined with thematic classes or Private Classes to strengthen specific skills.
Important notice: please note that if we have only 2 students enrolled in a regular class, that class becomes semi-private. Therefore, the class would last 2 hours/week for a total of 16 hours.
Accelerated courses cover 24 hours of material (same as regular courses), but are held more frequently over a concentrated period of only 4 weeks. They are designed for adults wishing to rapidly acquire or develop spoken and written skills or to help students reach an intermediate level and/or help students to prepare for a specific exam.
The goal of a conversation class is to enhance one’s ability to speak French in real life situations. Participants discuss the differences between French and American cultures through a variety of topics such as Culture, Arts, Literature, Politics and the Economy. They practice their conversation skills, perfect their grammar and master their vocabulary all in one class.
These courses are geared for learners who aim at improving the written and spoken language (grammar, vocabulary and linguistic activities from different mediums), as well as to reinforce the specific knowledge of students in various fields. These include a look into French grammar, French translation, an overview of TV5 Monde, an analysis of classic French literature and a deeper understanding of learning French for actors and comedians.
