Summer Camp



LES GAMINS 6 to 10 years old

Send your child on a journey of French discovery. Kids will learn, explore, play and grow in a program designed to immerse them in the French language while having Summer Fun. Each day includes a language class, plus a variety of activities that introduce kids to French culture in Los Angeles.


Our Bi-weekly themes comes to life through cooking, theatre, art, crafts and singing as part of the core program. Special daily activities are added to the program on a weekly basis and every Thursday, children are treated to a special event - all en francais!

LES ADOS 11 to 18 years old

Teens dive deep into French in our summer immersion clases. For two weeks, students will focus on improving French reading, writing and conversation skills. Grouped according to age and level, our highly trained teachers will lead teens to pick up communication skills while exploring Francophone cultures.

Fall 2017 – 18 weeks

BEBE ET MOI (6 months -2 years old)

Come and spend an hour in French with your tiny one. This class would be a great introduction to French language through sound and visual stimulation. We will sing songs, play little games, and make music… This class will give you the necessary tools to reinforce French at home. There is no prerequisite for this class. As soon as toddlers are mature enough, they will move on to Transition class. REGISTER

TRANSITION (2½-4years old)

Our transition class allows young children to learn to adapt in a smooth fashion to a school environment. Game-like activities alternate with first steps in school work. Transition classes also help with sparing young children (and their parents!) from separation anxiety. Parents are encouraged to join in and participate in activities when invited to do so by the instructors. REGISTER

LA MATERNELLE (6 months -4 years old)

In our La Maternelle program, children acquire new words and language structures illustrated by a variety of age-appropriate activities. Various arts-and-crafts projects give children the opportunity to practice French and reinforce their new vocabulary. Fluency and confidence will improve through fun activities such as songs, dance, games, stories, and films. A different topic is covered every week. REGISTER

LES MOMES (6 -9 years old)

Students, ages 5 to 9 years old will discover French language and culture, work on grammar and explore new vocabulary through interactive and stimulating stories, songs, projects and educational games. The emphasis is on oral communication and most activities aim at developing oral skills through new words and new sounds. The main objective of this course is to help children develop strong communication skills. REGISTER

JUNIORS (9-13 years old)

Students, ages 9 to 13 will discover French language and culture, basic grammar and vocabulary through interactive and stimulating stories, songs, projects and educational games. The emphasis is on oral communication, with the introduction to reading and writing simple vocabulary. REGISTER


Beginner level classes are designed to help students who are beginning to learn French in High School and to reinforce the material taught at school. Beginner is dedicated to students who have never take french before, Intermediate is for students with a minimum of 1 year High School French and Advanced/AP level is designed for advanced level High School students and those who wish to prepare for the AP French and Culture Examination. REGISTER


These classes are intended for children enrolled in American public / private schools, who wish to try their hand at following the current French program taught in Elementary Schools in France. The instructors use materials adopted by the French Ministry of Education, which reinforce the four aspects of language learning: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. REGISTER


Experience French Immersion, become French for three hours! Drop off center for Homework Help, Cultural Immersion, Arts & Crafts, French Library and more. Free to students taking a group or private class during this afternoon and available for registration daily or weekly. Build a solid foundation in French with this basic immersion program.

Level A1 includes courses Beginner 1, 2, 3

You will be able to

  • Understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases aimed at satisfying basic needs.
  • Introduce yourself and others; ask and answer questions about personal details such as where you live, people you know and things you have.
  • Interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.


Reinforce oral and written communication skills.

Level A2 includes courses Beginner 4 and 5

You will be able to

  • Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
  • Communicate according to simple and routine tasks requiring simple and direct exchanges of information on familiar and routine matters.
  • Describe, in simple terms, aspects of your background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.


Reinforce your knowledge of French grammar and practice both oral and written skills through socio-cultural themes.

Level B1 includes courses Intermediate 1, 2, 3, 4 and Advance 1, 2, 3

You will be able to

  • Understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
  • Deal with most situations likely to arise whilst traveling in an area where the lan- guage is spoken.
  • Produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
  • Describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.


Reinforce oral and written communication skills

Level B2 includes course Expert 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

You will be able to

  • Understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization.
  • Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
  • Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options

The originality of the Alliance Française is personalized teaching based on a constructive dialogue with the teacher and integrating the cultural dimension in language learning. Our curriculum is designed to develop or enhance the spoken and written French. The curriculum follows the guidelines of the globally recognized FRAMES program defining the different levels of language learning. Regular French is comprised of 24 hours of instruction, taught over 8 weeks that allows learners to approach the language contextually through varying practical solutions.These courses can be combined with Thematic classes or Private Classes to strengthen specific skills. Accelerated courses cover 24 hours of material (same as regular courses), but are held more frequently over a concentrated period of only 4 weeks. They are designed for adults wishing to rapidly acquire or develop spoken and written skills or to help students reach an intermediate level and/or help students to prepare for a specific exam. The Alliance Française provides customized private one- on-one and semi-private instruction with fully qualified teachers. Start at any time and benefit from flexible scheduling and personalized instruction. Classes are available for adults, kids, and teens at all levels of proficiency. Lessons are tailored to address an individual or group’s particular needs with flexible scheduling throughout the day or evening. These courses are geared for learners who have already reached a French language A2 level. They are aimed at improving the written and spoken language (grammar, vocabulary and linguistic activities from different mediums), as well as to reinforce the specific knowledge of students in various fields. These include a look into French daily life, French through songs, an overview of TV5 Monde, and an analysis of classic French littérature. REGISTER


The goal of a conversation classes is to enhance one’s ability to speak French in real life situations. Participants discuss the differences between French and American cultures through a variety of topics such as Culture, Arts, Literature, Politics and the Economy. REGISTER


With a focus on grammar and pronunciation, this class will give the students solid foundations in grammar and confidence in speaking. REGISTER

Language Center


We offer language programs for all levels and all ages throughout the year. Classes are taught in group or private settings, daytime or evening and all day Saturday.

Alliance Française offers private and semi-private instruction to individuals and institutions, schools or companies. We can tailor classes to your specific needs and build your own private program.

We use latest teaching methodology, illustrated by our adoption of the “European Framework for language and learning for all global institutions. Our instructor are fully qualified to teach French as a second language.

We continue to implement innovative teaching methods to enable each student to master the French language as quickly as possible, whatever their objective.

Alliance Française will quickly develop your communication skills through total immersion in French Language and by incorporating the use of video, audio, and printed materials, carefully selected to best fit the needs of each student.

Classes are limited to a maximum of eight students to ensure a personalized, student-centered experience for each of our student.

Terms and conditions


Tuition and fees must be paid in full at time of registration. Acceptable forms of payment are check, money order (payable to Alliance Française de Los Angeles), or credit card (Visa, MasterCard & American Express). We can set up a payment plan at no additional cost using a credit card that will be charged automatically. When a student's employer pays course fees, an authorization letter from the employer is required. If an employer fails to pay the cost of a student's tuition fees and material, the Language Center will require the student to pay the tuition prior to the beginning of the first class. If not registering for an entire session (if the student will miss more than three classes), the tuition is $25 per hour.

A refund, less a $50 administration fee will be issued only with written notification at least three (3) business days prior to the 1st day of class. No refunds or credits for books. Please note that absence from class does not constitute notice of withdrawal. Refund of fees paid by credit card can only be refunded to the credit card used. Students are not entitled to a refund for a course where a previous credit was used as full or partial payment of course fees. Refunds will be processed within 3 months after the date of purchase; there will be no refunds pass this limit.

Tuition Credit
A non-transferable tuition credit (valid for 1 year from the date of issue) less a $50 processing fee may be granted to a student who wishes to withdraw from a course, only when the student provides the Language Center with written notice of his or her intent to withdraw before the 3rd class of a session. School credit will be processed based on the number of remaining hours in the course once written notice of intent to withdraw is received by the Alliance Francaise. Written requests can be submitted to or in person at the Alliance Française. All classes up to and including the date of the credit request will be deducted from the remaining hours. Students are not entitled to a credit for a course where a previous credit was used as full or partial payment of course fees and for private lesson packages.

Private Classes
Private lessons packages must be paid at least 24 hours prior to the first scheduled lesson. Private lessons once purchased must be used within a six month period from date of purchase. Extra hours cannot be added to a package. For a cancellation or a change of appointment, a notice must be received 24 hours before your class and by Friday before 4pm for a Monday class. An appointment can only be cancelled and rescheduled once. You can reschedule a maximum of 1 hour from the 6 hours package, 3 hours of the 12-hour package and 5 hours of the 18-hour package. Private Lesson packages are non-refundable, unused hours cannot be transferred and no credit will be issued for them.

All transfers from one course to another or to private lessons (minimum of 6 lessons required) must be done within the first two weeks of the same session for an eight-week session and within the first week for a four-week session and must be approved by the Alliance Française. Any additional tuition or fees resulting from a course transfer are payable at the time the change is made. No transfers are accepted to another group class or private classes after the second week of classes. Transfers to another course or to private tuition will be processed based on the number of remaining hours in the course. Transfer from a private lesson package to a group class will not be accepted.

Course Cancellations & Changes
Alliance Française of Los Angeles reserves the right to cancel courses, adjust curriculum or change teachers at any time during the session. New classes must reach a minimum enrollment of three students in order for the class to open. Current classes must have a minimum of three students enrolled 48 hours prior to the start date to be maintained. Courses are typically cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, unavailability of an instructor, or inability to schedule appropriate instructional space. If your course is cancelled, you will be notified by telephone or e- mail and given the option to transfer, to receive a credit or to be fully refunded.


Missed classes are non-refundable. However, students who miss a class are welcome to contact our office for a complimentary make up class in another group class of the equivalent level and length in time. Make up classes must be scheduled within the same session and limits of availability. Students must contact the Alliance Française by email to before the date of the class in order to have their request approved. If no other class is available in the specific level during the same session, students are eligible for one hour of private class with their instructor priced at $50 at a date and time mutually agreed upon. All private make-up classes must be approved and confirmed by Alliance Française administration prior to the class. Students are encouraged to contact their teachers via email to obtain missed work or assignments. A maximum of two make up classes per session will be accepted in regular and intensive classes, and up to three make-up classes in theme groups (conversation-grammar-phonetics).

For those students who give notice of two missed classes at the time of registration, and when there is no alternate class, a credit equivalent to one class (two for a sixteen week session) can be issued and used on a future session upon receipt of enrollment in the same session. 

Children & Teens
For payment and refunds please read the above sections. Missed classes are not refundable but we can allow three make up classes per session. The make-up classes can be taken in another kid’s class equivalent in level or in the Afterschool program. If the administration is notified of missed classes at the time of registration, a credit for the value of two classes can be given to the student towards the next session of classes. In the Afterschool program, no refund issued after the first day of the purchased session and no credit will be given. If a day is missed, parents are encouraged to bring their child on a different day within the same session. There will be a $20.00 per child charge for each 30 minute increment of time that parents are late to pick up children after their specified class is completed. If you are going to be late, please contact us before to arrange for extended care.

Workshops and Cultural Events 

Workshops are non-refundable. A credit minus a $10 processing fee can be issued towards a future workshop if the student notifies the administration at the latest on the day of the workshop the student had registered for. Workshops require a minimum of four students enrolled to open. If this minimum is not reached, the workshop will be reschedule or fully refunded. No refunds or credits issued for Cultural Events.

Classroom Courtesy

The Alliance Française de Los Angeles reserves the right to dismiss any student at its discretion for lack of common courtesy or infringement of any school regulations.

Lost belongings
Students, families and visitors should make sure to take their and their children’s belongings before leaving Alliance Francaise de Los Angeles. We are not responsible for any lost belongings.

Cellphone Use
The use of cell phones is not allowed in classrooms and any student using his/her phone will be asked to leave the class.

Pets are not allowed in the classrooms at any time.
