ABOUT THIS EVENT: ENGLISH FLYER – FRENCH FLYER
Takes place on Wednesday, March 15th 2016 at 7:00 pm
THE FATE OF A PILL: FROM INVENTION TO MARKET IN THE U.S.
Dr Jeremie Vitte, PhD UCLA and Dr. Pierre Del Moral, Roche Pharmaceuticals
In the United States, it can take an average of 12 years for an experimental drug to travel from the laboratory to your medicine cabinet, that is, if it makes it at all!
In a time of rapid change in cancer therapy, Dr Jeremie Vitte will explain how he has developed experiments based upon a single idea and how this one idea can lead to a potential treatment. His treatment, currently involved in clinical trials can be sold to a pharmaceutical company for FDA approval and production.
Dr Pierre Del Moral will explain the process from the pharmaceutical perspective. He will detail how Roche will take one interesting treatment idea (such as Jeremie’s) and develop it into a pill for patients, explaining the process of clinical testing, laws, patent protection and marketing.
Learn what it takes to create a new medicine. The path is long, arduous and fraught with risk. But the results can improve and extend lives.
The conference will be presented in French and will be followed by a Q&A in French and English.
